An unknown identity. A far off place. Face to face with danger. Detectives Needed.
Adventures In Character (AIC) is a children's program for 6-12-year-olds that runs concurrently with the Teaching Parents Association Convention each year, enabling families to enjoy the benefits of attending the weekend convention together. AIC's mission statement is, "Coming together to support parents in instilling the principles of God's Word in the lives of the next generation."
At this year's AIC, three detectives are called by "the Boss" to a far off land where they have been assigned to unravel the mysterious case of a person who has disappeared. As the plot makes its way through all sorts of twists and turns and a few dead ends, the detectives uncover confusing clues along the way that just don't quite add up. As they narrow in, they finally have the culprit cornered, only to discover the most startling twist to the case yet - the answer they've been looking for, but never would have expected to find. The children take part in the mystery by submitting their own ideas into the "Tip Box" and will be challenged through the team sessions to discover their own identities in Jesus Christ.
Our memory verses for the weekend are Colossians 1:26-29 (ESV), "Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church, of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known, the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me."
